Time to get ANGRY

😡 😡 😡 !!! Get ANGRY !!! 😡 😡 😡

If you ask people who know me well about my temper, they’ll say it is slow to ignite, has a comparatively long fuse, and when it ignites, a scary smoldering force. I find myself in this kind of a rage at reading of officer Guyger. She shot Botham Shem Jean in his own home for no apparent reason, and all she has been charged with is manslaughter. This has lit the national fire of division once again. We have every reason to view ourselves in us vs. them terms in any given conflict, and every right to be ANGRY…

??????? The question is: what can we do about it ?????

All I see thus far are heated opinions on social media and the toddler tantrums that follow. These only serve to polarize our culture further.

I think to history leading up to the American Revolution…

much like today, there were people arguing passionately about who was correct and content with just winning the debate at hand. Then some of those tempers kept smoldering in their rage and, despite their opposing political views, composed the Declaration of Independence, citing specific reasons for action the colonists were about to take.

When those colonies became the United States of America, they had to figure out how to make government work. Winning a war certainly sealed that, as citizens of this new nation, we’re all on the same team; it did NOT, however, ensure an easy path to our Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Here we are a couple hundred years later, more diverse, more complex, and more opinionated. I would like to invite our differences to the table.

😡 😡 😡 I want everyone to voice their rage. 😡 😡 😡

And I want those to whom it is directed to listen with the intention of understanding, rather than defending or reacting.

I invite polar opposites to respectful heated debates (it can be done) on whatever needs to be addressed! Our founders put the first amendment in place for that reason! We are obligated to honor their effort.

Each of us has some type of “us” label and another kind of “them” label. Let’s bring them together; let’s see what grows from it! 🌱🌱🌱
